Procedure

American Anatomical Transport and its staff of Licensed Funeral Directors will assist your Family to insure that the final directive of the donor or the donor’s family will be carried out to with the sensitivity and dignity the donor deserves.  American Anatomical Transport performs no medical research itself.

Our Organization will handle all the details of Local removal from the place of death, preparation, securing of death certificate and certified copies for the family or estate and transportation to a Medical School.  We will at times engage Local Funeral Homes for Certain Services.

The donor will be kept identified at all times and upon completion of examination or research.  We will arrange cremation, with return of the cremains in a decorative Urn or will comply with other directives given by the family or estate.

Cost

All Medical Schools will pay all cost when the donor passes away in a city or town within 100 miles of a major airport where the Human remains can be transported via airline.  The Medical school will not pay any costs associated with a Funeral Home (except when agreed upon). Excessive mileage transportation costs will be stated ahead of time.

There is no cost to the family for the cremation and return of the cremains.

The Medical school will pay for transportation to a major airport from the school.  The family must engage a Funeral Director for any additional merchandise or services for burial from the home airport.

The medical school will cremate the remains and place them in an Urn in a Vault in a cemetery of their choice in a dignified setting if the family or the estate does not want the cremains returned.

Veterans

Veterans Administration will provide a free grave for burial or a niche for the cremains at no cost in a National Veterans Cemetery.   Medical schools will pay for the transportation to the nearest airport where a Funeral Home takes charge and costs will be born by the family or estate.

If a Veteran passes away in a V-A Facility some services may be paid by the Veterans Administration.  American Anatomical Transport can arrange this service.
